“Stay at Home” Oxmarket Gallery, Chichester 2021 — Lockdown, isolation, shielding and social distancing are words we have all become familiar with. These little houses represent the many homes that have provided a haven, albeit a confined and isolating one, during the global pandemic. Although they are built to an identical pattern, the families and people who live within them are totally unique. The Raku firing process mirrors this: each house built to the same pattern and finished with an identical glaze, but the alchemic process of Raku firing creates a totally unique and unpredictable finish.
