My work is primarily in ceramics which is supported by photography and drawing. I work mainly from my studio at my home near Chichester, West Sussex.

I am fascinated by surfaces, particularly when they have a strong narrative, often presenting as a diary; a historical record of its life built in layers in a natural and uncontrieved manner.

My passion for raku firing ceramics is heavily fuelled by this interest in surfaces. A piece that begins its life with a simple surface is transformed, often in a very unpredicable and precarious manner, into a totally unique and individual piece. It is  as if it is responsible for its own destiny resulting in anything from disasterous to amazing results!
